26 bands... could it be?

Check out my recent (special order) from Ewa Michalak... Could this be the true 26 band we have been waiting for? (It's so exciting to actually see this size in writing in an order!)

...more details to come soon!!!

  3. What beautiful bras! Wondering what cup size I should consider ordering. I am normally around a 34H, depending on the brand. I ran my measurements through the bra size calculator on their website and it was very far off...

  4. Anonymous, According to their calculator and to most girls from Poland, the bras run very snug in the band. However, when I tried their 60(28) size, I did not find that to be the case. It just seemed like maybe a snug 28. I have also spoken with several other ladies from England/Germany/USA who agreed with me.

I would try your regular size (34H or 75H) if you are a "small 34" Or might tend towards 32 in some brands/styles. If you tend more towards a 36 band, I would recommend going up a band size and down a cup size. (36GG or 80GG) If in doubt go for the smaller band since you can always use an extender for a few weeks! I hope that helps and do let me know if you try them and what you think. :-)

  5. What I heard from some of the girls from the Polish bra lobby was that Ewa started off making them really small because she was keen on support, but later decided they didn't need to be that tight so they're more true to size now. I hope the 26s are small enough though, it would be fantastic to see something in small back sizes that isn't vanity sized!

  6. I also just remembered... MissfitUK's new online store is planning to retail Ewa Michalak! http://www.thebigbrabar.com/

  7. Zoggi, That makes sense about the band tightness and is pretty much the conclusion I've come to. If these fit a size smaller than the 60's (28's) I tried then they should be great! I hope they arrive soon- shipping from Poland to the US isn't exactly the fastest...

Oh, and I'm actually who told MissFitUk about Ewa Michalak! :-D

  8. I just ordered the amaranth bra and matching panty as a birthday gift for myself. I'm really really excited for them because they look so pretty and like they would give a great shape too. I love the pink lace. I hope that the 26 bands fit you great and are everything that you were hoping for.

  9. Ewa is the best :) There is no problem with me, i have quite popular size 65G/30G, but my mom whears 85KK/38KK and buys only Ewa's bras = exellent lifting and shape even in that size. And design is getting better and better...

  10. The Strapless Toffi is very tight, so I think it will fit you in 26 band. I don't know the others that well, but with CH Toffik it's difficult to find the fitting size. I sell those bras online in Germany (and also am the owner of the German forum about bra-fitting, analogous to the polish lobby) and saw them on a few women (live and on photos) and saw this problem. So I wish you, that you have luck with your size!

  11. I wonder how they will fit:)
I think strapless toffi is very snug, not like the other 2. I wear band 30 most of the time but 32 toffi.

  12. I hope they will fit, I'm very excited. I do have two bras by Ewa Michalak in bandsize 26 and I like them so much. I also have the toffi strapless in 28DD and it's even tighter than the two 26s!
I also tried the Halfek Smaragd in 28E, but here the band was very loose.
    Good luck!

  13. Ewa's aim was to standardize the sizes. That's why the band are tighter and they are designed to fit the measurements close to the actual women's sizes. I don't know if it's clear enough :) Most of the size charts propose band 70 (32) for someone who has approximately 70cm under bust. Yet in order to achieve the needed support in most styles a woman having 70cm under bust has to order a smaller back size. The problem is that such a bra is designed for someone who has 65cm under bust so the cups and wires often don't fit as well as they could.
Ewa decided to change that. So a woman with 70cm chest should be satisfied with band 70 (32).
The styles differ as always but according to my expierience this rule usually proves right.
I'am satisfied with the band shown by the size calculator (I have 73cm under bust and I usually order band 70 or 75).

I simply adore Ewa's bras and think that her method is brilliant. There's no need for 55(26) band in her bras and in my opinion that's just how it should be. Finally, very small amount of women have chests measuring 55cm.

  14. Would love to hear what you think of the strapless. Am searching for a good strapless bra for a wedding I am attending in two weeks. Going to a fitting at Nordstorm tomorrow. Was wearing 38DDD, but have lost 20 lbs, so I have no idea what size I am now. I am very nervous as I've NEVER worn strapless before and am stressing about buying a really good bra that will give me support all day and night. So any comments on the Toffi strapless or any other strapless you've found that you like would be very helpful! Thank you and I love your blog! Jeanine

  15. Wow, I just got the amythyst bra and I couldn't be happier! I can't wait to hear what you think of Miss Ewa's genious of bra engineering when you get your bras in the mail.

  16. Britanny I was wondering how many inches you have under your breasts?

  17. Anonymous, I am 24" around my ribcage, measured snug. :-)

  18. I've tried various sizes over the years and none of them fit right. I'm constantly readjusting some part of the bra throughout the day. Maybe you can guide me in the right direction?

I typically wear a size 4 dress/pants, depending on the brand. My underbust is 26", full bust 35", upper/over bust is 33" and I also have a 24" waist. I seem to fit pretty well in most Freya's in a 28G (DDDD) and they feel snug and secure for the most part, but the straps pull on my shoulders and they're also placed too far apart. Right away when I put a bra on I always pull the straps in towards my neck, otherwise the fabric along the top of the cup going down to the center gore cuts into my boobs making the cup too small, at the same time the cup looks too big because there is a small amount of extra fabric at the apex of the cup. I usually wear them on the loosest hook but I can tighten them to the smallest one, but I still have shoulder pain, it pulls the cups too far to the sides resulting in a flatter look in the cup and it doesn't give me any lift unless I tighten the straps more which causes more shoulder and neck pain. I usually wear 34D and 32DD, some of them I have taken in. They slide up my back constantly but they're not as painful as the 28's.

I've been to Nordstrom before for a fitting and the girl said I should be in a 30DD, but I know that cup size is too small on me and the band is too large. A woman on breasttalk.uk (site doesn't exist anymore) said I would probably do better in a 28DDDD, so I bought a few but rarely wear them because of all those fit issues I mentioned above, and also because none of them, with the exception of the Freya Deco, are lined, so my boobs sag because there is no structure to the bra. What can I do to fix this, and would a 26 really be my size?

  19. Hi Anonymous,
Although I'm not an expert, I believe that space at the apex of the cup, coupled with the cup cutting into the top of the breast tissue is actually a sign that the cup is too small. I've heard this referred to before as the "orange in a glass" phenomenon. Maybe try going up one cup size on a 28 band and see if that fixes it (if you're in a 28DDDD, then you want to try a UK 28FF). Then if you find that the band is too loose, go down to a 26 band (UK 26G).

However, if going up in the cup provides a fit that is obviously too large, then it may be that the cut/style of the bras you have in 28DDDD don't suit you, and that is why you're getting the space at the apex plus the cutting in at the top. Freya bras tend to have narrow underwires and deep cups, and it may be that wide underwires with shallow cups fit your shape better. Panache is a good brand to try for wide underwires.

  20. Hi Allie, thanks for the response =) I do have a couple of Panache bras (right now only the Harmony and Porcelain), they seem to run half a cup size too small though. I have the Porcelain in both 28 and 30DDDD, the 30 fits better in the cups, it's just a smidge too big, but the next size down is too small. For me the 30 fits better, on the 28 the band is so tight that it pulls the cups to the sides and the fabric is so cheap it stretches out very easily so the cups just flatten right away. I was able to put a dart in the center gore on most of my bras and this fixed the apex problem and made more room in the cup for me. My torso is very v-shaped so I think that might contribute to the cup issue too. The problem I have with Panache bras is that they're too far to the sides, they tend to point towards my arms and seperate my boobs too much. I already have that shape naturally and a bra that gives that appearance just makes it look a lot worse. So far I've found Balcony (but not balconette) styles fit me well. I have one in a basque from Fantasie, but it's a 30DDD...and it's a basque, lol. Has anyone ever tried converting one of those into a regular full band bra? I also have the Freya Rio in 28DDDD, that one gives a better shape than their other styles but it's painful because the straps are so far apart!

  21. Just a side note. EM's calculator seems to be using the "add 4 inch" method! Not sure if this was mentioned anywhere in your blog/comments. I just tried it out and according to that calculator it says my size is 65E. Is that the same as 30DD or 30DDD? Because if it's the first option, then that calulator is WAY off...

  22. would i wear 60DD/E or F or a 65C/D or a 55E/F. I was just fitted and wear 28E/F bra. I wear size 0=4 dress.
    bust: 30 inches
    waist: 24-25 inches
    hips:33 inches

    upper bust: 28/29 inches
bust line: sometimes 30/31, 32 inches when bent over 34 inches
under bust: 26 inches 28 inches when measured
the Calculator tells me that I would wear a 60 DD but Ina from EM tells me a 65DD or 65C/D bra.
What EM bra size should I order?

  24. Anonymous- I do think Allie gave you some good advice. It really sounds to me like you have not found the right shape/brand of bra yet. It's hard to tell for sure exactly what the problem is, although you may partially be on to something with your V-shaped ribcage thing. I would love to help you more- would you feel comfortable sending me an email? A few photos of you, maybe in different sizes, showing how the bras fit would be the best thing. I would NOT share those with anybody without your permission, it would just be for me to help you figure out the problem. My email is brittany[at]thinandcurvy.com. Other then that, I would just suggest trying out different brands and sizes. Ewa Michalak bras do have a different shape slightly than Freya or Panache, so they might be helpful for you.

  25. Anonymous- You are right, EM's calculator does use the add 4" method, essentially. However Polsih women measure very very very tight, "like you are strangling someone" and exhaling, and then round down, and then add inches to that- so often when you do that it often leads to the same as measuring comfortably and then taking that measurement.

Yes, that is like 30DDD. I would suggest taking your usual size, or if you wear Freya a lot maybe taking a band size up and a cup size down from that since Freya's a bit looser/stretchier.

  26. Anonymous- (Eeek, it gets confusing with so many anonymous's, so hopefully I am answering everybody right!) Are you happy with the size 28E/F that you were fitted at? If so I would suggest probably 60E. :-)

My waist measures 25 inches and my under bust is 27/28 inches and the Freya t-shirt bra ( 28 E) rubs and makes the area between the breasts red or discolored. Dose this mean that i should go up a band size?

  29. My bust line measures 32/33inches and 35/36 inches when I measure it bent over.
