Review: Parfait by Affinitas Lingerie

When I had the chance to try out several pieces by Parfait, I knew that with a smallest band size of 30 and largest cup size of G, they wouldn't work so well on my 26HH body. I happen to have  a good friend who wears a 28-30G, however, so I asked her if she wouldn't mind trying out the pieces. Here's what she had to say:

"The first item I would like to review is a lovely pink balconet bra with cherry blossom print. With its pintuck seams and satin buttons, it more closely resembles a piece of summer wear than undergarment!
I tried the bra in what is usually my bra size – a 30G. However, as you can see in the photo, the cup is clearly too small. I tried resizing the straps, everything you can do to loosen the fit of the cup, but still cut across my breasts in a really unflattering manner. Some of this might be due to the shape of my breasts, not just the size (I usually avoid balconet bras, actually, due to the way they tend to fit). I would suggest that if you are fuller breasted and like this bra (I was really disappointed it didn’t fit, as I loved it!) you might want to go up a cup size.

The second piece was a beautiful ivory chemise, also a 30G. It is a truly lovely piece, worthy of a bridal trousseau. Best of all, it fits like a dream. The cups on this item were full coverage, and the fit was right on target. The bodice flowed nicely, and I am not super thin, especially around the hips.

So, to summarize, this company makes absolutely stunningly beautiful lingerie. However, be aware that sizing of different cup styles can really make a tremendous difference in terms of fit. Based on my experience, if I was ordering something with a full coverage cup, I would stick with my standard sizing. On the other hand, if I was ordering something with a different cut – specifically a balconet style – I might go up a cup size."

According to online reviews, Parfait by Affinitas pieces can work for some 28 band folks, if you're not a "small" 28. If you fit into their size range, I would definitely encourage you to give them a try. All of their pieces are gorgeous and very affordable. My only complaint is that they don't come in my size! I hope that someday, they are able to expand to include bands down to a 26 and cups up to a K or more! :-)

  1. The babydoll looks great on your friend. How did she find it to sleep in? What a bummer that she couldn't get the bra in a larger cup size.

  2. This is the one brand that I am DYING to have go up to my cup size... I fall deep into lust every time I see it reviewed. This will hurt for a few days. (and model/reviewer: you look INCREDIBLE in the babydoll)

  3. I find that Parfait runs both a band AND a cup size small, almost across the board. But ordering that way gets me a perfect fit. So anyone who wears a 28 (and G or less) should really consider trying it. It's easily my favorite bra brand.

    1. I don't know if I agree with that statement, judging from my own personal experience. My one Parfait by Affinitas bra fits me the same as my Curvy Kate bra of the same size and similar style (underwire, no padding)... I do agree that the bra is very nicely made. It has good construction although it sometimes squeaks when I move!

  4. According to Hourglassy, Parfait has no interest in expanding their size range (or making swimwear) due to lack of interest. They claim nobody has asked them to! (Lies, because I totally wrote them a lovely love note about how I love their lovely bras and would love to wear them--to buy only them!--except I am a GG.)

So we should totally petition them. They really are quality made bras, and I appreciate that the bands run small. I tried on a 30G Charlotte and it was a leeeetle too small in the cups, and bang-on in the band. I keep intending to go back and try on a 32G, in hopes it will fit well enough.

  5. Looking at the models presenting the lingerie I'd say they are a size 28/26. Kind of weird when they sell size 30 and up...

    1. Given that the 30 bands are so damn tight (Freya 28s are too loose for me, and Parfait's 30 is on the tight side), maybe they're following the +4 rule?

    2. I have a question...

I was fitted in a 28E about a year ago, but have since decided a 26F would be more appropriate. Out of curiosity, I've been checking out different bra size calculators and looking on sites known for carrying sub-32 bands. They all appear to use the add 4/5 method and gave me results ranging from 30B (ouch!) to 30DDD.

So my question is, if your "true size" comes out as something like 34D does that mean that you are only a 34D in brands that don't use the add 4/5 method? Or are you also a 34D in places like VS or other brands that use different methods?

    3. You'd have no way of knowing it without trying it on yourself. While with *normal* sizes like 34D there could be (but not neccessarily is) some consistency among different brands, with DD+ cups and sub-32 bands you'd get hell of a circus.

I was fond of idea to find my *true size* until one *true* calculator placed me in 24HH. While it's very amusing combination of letters and numbers itself, it doesn't really make my bra shopping any easier.

What might be helpful is to check Balkonetka.pl or Bratabase.com sites. Balkonetka features huge collection of photos on vast range of sizes and brands but what's even better - it gives the UNDERBUST and OVERBUST measurements of women on photos. So you can find someone close (or exactlly equal) to your shape and see what really fits and what doesn't.

Bratabase.com has it's unique measuring system that has nothing to do with adding inches. It gives recommendatons based on actual bra paramenters - length of band and underwire, depth of cups etc. - not on manufacter's label.

Far from perfect but it can give you an idea where to stars or what to expect, especially if you shop for bra online. Good luck

  6. Although I don't have quite the bra issues you do, I do have some problems with the whole curviness bit, being that I'm pear-shaped. Anyway, I've found a lovely place to buy nice lingerie online called AdoreMe.com, and some of the styles they offer go into the F-range, though the band size may not be small enough for some of you. I'd still say it's worth looking at. They have new styles every month, and everything has the set price of $39.95 for a bra w/ panty set. I like it, and maybe some of you will have luck as well.

  7. I just bought a round of 34 Gs from this brand and sadly I have to report they fit strange on my frame. My breasts are naturally center and close together. I bought an assortment of these bras (including the one pictured) and its extremely uncomfortable.
:( I was so sad when I tried it on and found the results. I honestly thought they were euro sizing when I tried it on :/ then my mother came and showed me if the strap was over more (towards the center) they would fit pretty well. So... I'm 5'3 so maybe they're made for taller or broader shoulders or something? My mom said maybe for breasts that are a bit farther apart. I don't know. On ebay they go :(

  8. Parfait by Affinitas is continually coming out with new styles that make traditionally small busted pieces wearable for full-busted women, and I’m thankful for that. Thought I'd share!

  9. I bought the same piece of lingerie. Please tell your friend to be careful with it! Mine ripped almost immediately. I put it on to show my husband and some of the wispy material was caught under my band. I pulled it out and it began to rip right under the bra part. I had my mom remove it completely because it was poorly made and cheap. A disappointment, but now I have a fairly well fitting bra in red!
