Announcements

I am very excited to announce that I am in the top 30 for the first ever USA Star in a Bra contest! Star in a Bra is an annual contest run by full bust lingerie brand Curvy Kate. They select models from their customers so that the models really represent their customers and show how the bras fit on natural, large breasts.

I have been passionate about body image and bra fitting for years now, and I believe that winning this contest could provide me with a whole new way of making a difference. I have a lot of hope that bringing this contest to the USA will really help to bring bra fit awareness to American women. And I would be thrilled and honored if you would vote for me. Click Here to vote!

If you need another suggestion on who to vote for, (you get 3 picks this round) then I really adore Cristyen of the new blog Red Hair and Girly Flair. Like me, she is passionate about body image, and has a fascinating journey of weight loss and self acceptance.

I also want to congratulate this years' UK winner, Sophie Morgan!

And finally, I have one more piece of exciting news to share:

Gregory and I are engaged! So I will be talking more about wedding-related stuff coming up soon, especially the parts that pertain to curves and body image.

...Vote for me for Star in a Bra, so my fiance can tell his friends he's marrying a lingerie model. :-P

  5. I can't vote because I don't have Facebook but I hope you win! Your blog was the first to let me know that there exists bras beyond an F cup and it opened up a huge (albeit expensive) world for me. Thank you so much for everything. Oh, and I had no idea you were from the US; I had always assumed you were from the UK, like most of the others.

  6. that's so exciting! And CONGRATULATIONS! Just wondering though, where did you get that bathing suit you are wearing in one of the pictures for the competition? It's super cute.

    1. Thank you! It's a Panache swimsuit from maybe 2 years ago; It's called the Panache Monroe. You might be able to find it in your size on eBay.

  7. Aren't you a bratop blogger? You are on their blogroll. And doesn't CK own brastop? And haven't you complained that you are a 24/26 band in the past? Doesn't that size you out of CK since they don't make bands in that range?

    1. Nope, I'm not a Brastop Blogger. I believe CK does own Brastop, or at least they have some form of collaboration. I am better off in a 26-24 band. However, I am capable of wearing 28 bands on the tightest hook for modelling purposes and they generally fit fine at first there. I just don't like to buy bras in that size for wearing long-term as they stretch out too fast and become too big. I am hoping that if I win, I can help influence CK to make smaller bands. I have spoken with members of the CK team about my size and they are aware of it; as I said I am capable of modelling 28 bands and I am not breaking contest rules as you only need to be D+ with natural breasts. :-)

  8. Haha I just noticed the wine glass! That's awesome xD

I have voted for you in Star In A Bra and congratulations for the engagement! That's a very pretty engagement ring, and I don't usually like engagement rings.

  10. Congratulations! I voted for you, Christyen, and Catherine based on your positive entries. I can't believe the way some of the other entrants put down women who are thinner or have straighter body shapes!

  13. Aw, thanks for the shout-out! I hope we get to meet up and have fun together for the top 10. Maybe we could even do some sort of collaborative blog or video sort of thing! I adore you so much.

  14. Congratulations!
I wore a strapless number on our wedding day (am a 10/32 G) and it really showed off my figure. Looking forward to seeing what you wear.
All the best preparing for your life together as husband and wife.

  15. Congratulations! What a beautiful ring! And good luck with both the CK competition and your wedding planning. I'm getting married this Saturday, and I ended up getting a corset & skirt combo made from Dark Garden because it was the only place that both made me feel like myself and look great (32G hourglass is a corseting dream).

  16. Congratulations! What a unique ring! Beautiful. And I voted for you:) Before I even read this post. I was all "wait a second, that's...YES THAT'S HER!" :)

  17. Wauw, all great news! I wasn't going to vote (I don't like having all sorts of stuff on my facebook) but I did now, because I wanted to vote for you! It would be so great if you could influence to get smaller bands! I think you would be a great representative for Curvy Kate :)
And congrats on the engagement as well, you'll be a wonderful bride! I think I speak for everyone when I say we are looking forward to seeing some of your preparations!

  18. Congrats! On both counts.

My engagement ring was more traditional looking, but a sapphire as the center stone. I love the non-traditional look :)

My wedding dress ended up being custom made (although I almost bought a strapless) with a v-neck... This was before I realized my true bra size and I know I had the cup volume right, just the band was all wrong (38DDD/F when I'm more accurately a 34G-GG)! I had quite the frankenbra, and my seamstress had to take 4 inches out of the waist of my long-line bra so it would stay up and not be bulky beneath my dress.

  19. So glad you made the announcement, so that I can look forward to seeing the wedding dress posts. :) As I told you before, I wore a strapless dress when I was head bridesmaids at a friend's wedding, and never again! Sadly, most wedding dresses seem to be strapless, but I want a nice v-neck for my 32HH's!

  20. I saw you made the top 30 and had already voted, so I didn't bother to read the whole entry last time I checked your blog. Congrats on the engagement!

  23. Congratulations! I am getting married in August, and I can say from experience that you will have plenty to blog about! I ended up buying a dress with a corseted back, so it is a bit more ajustable in the bust/waist, but I had to go through a lot of alterations. I had to buy a petite size 4, and then have the top taken out a bit so that it would clasp, and the waist taken in about 2" on each side. It is a gorgeous dress, but all of the beading on top had to be taken apart and then redone after it was taken in. It was a big project, and costly, but the result is wonderful. I am still unsure what to do about a bra. At this point I think I am going to go braless, since the corset should tie me up in there pretty well. I wanted to get cups sewn in to the front to preserve some shape to my breasts and not squash them flat, but that was too difficult to find in my size as well. The cups are sized A, B, and C without bands. I have absolutely no idea what to make of this, since, as you well know, cup size is dynamic. I mean, I could be a C cup if the band size is 38/40, but not if it's 28. What the hell size is a C cup with no band? Anyway, I hope you tackle some of these things in the near future, and keep us posted on how things are going. The best advice I can give you is to not sweat the details. Everything will be fine, and at the end you will be married. So long as you have the marriage licence, an officiant, and at least two people. Anything else going wrong just makes for a better/funnier story in 5 years.

  24. I was wondering what your original Star in a Bra submission photo looked like?
I'm considering entering next time. :) My measurements are 32G-25.5-37. I wore really uncomfortable 34DDs for years until I figured out how to measure myself. Love your blog.

    1. Hi Kailey,

The photo at the top of this post was one of the ones I submitted... but maybe I'll do a post that has all of my submission photos in it, if that would be helpful. :-) Good luck on entering!
